Microsoft Teams

Image
This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PPT about previous T3PP results. Specifically  Microsoft Teams in the Microsoft Technologies list.  This tool requires a microsoft account, and is mainly used for communication!  Here is a helpful  link  I found that provides a tour of how to use Microsoft Teams and it's functions! Sidenote-all of my screenshots are from within the Microsoft Teams app, but the app is not required to access the site. The "Activity" tab is where announcements and comments from other people that mention you, and that sort of thing pop up. The "Community" tab looks like this for me because I'm not actually part of a group, but describes some of the uses: The "Chat" tab looks like this: (again it looks different for me because I'm not actually in a team) In Teams, you can create chat messages with individuals or within a group, post announcements, creating video call "meetings," and things of that sort. If...

Google Classroom

This blog entry is about a tool in Dr. Wang's PPT about previous T3PP results. Specifically  Google Classroom in the Google Technologies list.  This tool is free to use with a google account, and is a "virtual classroom." When you first enter the site you are prompted to either create a class or join a class. Here is what  my classroom  looks like when you first enter it: On this first page, as an educator, you can post announcements for your students and respond to any questions they might have. The cool thing about this is you have the option to schedule when your announcements will be posted, so if you wanted to post an announcement to remind students about an upcoming assignment or something like that, you can schedule it to do that for you. At the top of the screen there is the "Classwork" tab, which is where you can create assignments, quizzes, ask short answer questions, and post materials for your students to view. You also have the option to create ...

TagCrowd.com L1 Technology List

Image
This blog entry is about a tool of my own interest from the list of L1 Information Processing Technologies provided by Dr. Wang. I chose to explore the website:  TagCrowd  This week we discussed the "Learning" aspect of TLC. This tool can be used to achieve the Information Processing aspect of Learning (L1) by breaking complex ideas down into simpler pieces for students. TagCrowd  is a website that can be utilized by classroom teachers and students to identify key words that are important to remember regarding a topic. You begin by inserting text about your subject into a textbox, by either copy and pasting, typing it yourself, using a web page URL, or uploading some sort of file. For my example I used a website I found educating teachers on phonological and phonemic awareness and copied the URL into  TagCrowd  ( https://www.readingrockets.org/teaching/reading101-course/modules/phonological-and-phonemic-awareness-introduction). Then I inputted that I wanted my w...

StoryShares.org T3 Technology List

Image
This blog entry is about a tool of my own interest from the list of T3 Instructing Technologies provided by Dr. Wang. I chose to explore the website:  StoryShares . This week we discussed the "Teaching" aspect of TLC, and the 7-Events framework for T3-Instructing. This tool can be used to achieve the Pre-Instruction event of T3. StoryShares  is a website that can be utilized by classroom teachers to help developing readers select books of interest to them. We know that developing/struggling readers tend to have negative experiences with reading and lack interest. However, this tool can be used to find a book that will be at your students reading level AND their interest level.  The first step is to choose your student's corresponding reading level. They have options 1-5 or "All." Once this is selected, you choose your student's interest level. This can be anywhere from Late Elementary to Post High School or "All."  Once these two filters have been...
